I was prescribed diclofenac for gynecomastia. will that cure it or just alleviate the tenderness for a while?

Talk to your doctor.: Gynecomastia can not be cured with diclofenac but alleviate the pain. Diclofenac is a NSAID medication which has multiple side effects- gastric bleeding, may affect kidneys & BP. Cause of gynecomastia need to be found out & treated accordingly.

Unlikely to happen: The age listed on your profile is 41. If true, this is long past the age when puberty related gynecomastia will fade.I would see your doc and make sure you do not have a treatable medical condition or take a med that brought this about.If not a consultation with a plastic surgeon with experience in the area would be my next move.
