Ask your doctor: Generally painful male painful gynecomastia is a benign condition. Usually your doctor would perform a breast physical examination to check for changes. If the radiologist had seen breast inflammation on the mammogram the first time, they may commonly recommend a 6 month follow up mammogram. See your doctor for an exam ; ask about the mammogram recommendation.

The prior: mammogram report likely recommended a 6 month follow up to monitor stability. This is not unusual. However, if you think it is a mistake, call your doctor and check before having the mammo. It may not be necessary to monitor gynecomastia with serial mammograms.
