See below : Along with an benign enlargement of the prostate (BPH/BPE) and prostate cancer (PCa), infection or inflammation of the prostate (UTI, prostatitis) are the 3 common causes of an elevated PSA so it is very likely your husband’s PSA elevation is UTI-related. Recommendation is to adequately and completely treat the UTI (confirm with negative U/A and symptom resolution) and repeat PSA in 6 weeks.

Possibly inaccurate: The PSA may not be accurate because of having a urinary track infection. If it’s abnormal you should have it repeated after treatment The AUA guidelines do not recommend PSA evaluation for men less than 50 years old unless they are at high risk
