Acanthosis nigricans: You may have something called acanthosis nigricans which causing this skin discoloration. That is a skin condition characterized by areas of dark, velvety discoloration in body folds and creases (commonly underarms, groin), and the skin may also become thickened. You should be checked for diabetes, since this is commonly seen in patients with diabetes.
