A member asked:

Can occipital nueralgia and/or cervicogenic cause ear pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Occipital nerve: The occipital nerve emanates from the base of the skull and travels upward behind the ear and further upward. Classically, when it is irritable or slightly inflamed, pain is felt in those areas.I have never seen it cause actual ear ache but I wouldn't rule out the possibility. Pinched or inflamed nerves at the neck level is less apt to cause ear discomfort.
