About PCR...: PCR, NAAT, etc..., are tests that look for pieces of genetic material (such as pieces of DNA or RNA). The tests can be done at any time, but doctors want to do the tests at times when a result is most reliable (less chance of false positives or false negatives). Realize that the tests look for genetic material, regardless of whether the material is from 1, 2, 3, or more people.
