A member asked:

I had chlaymdia 2 years ago, didnt get pid. the infection has cleared, will i ever get pid from the chlaymdia that i had? or only if i get reinfected

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If re-infected: Chlamydia and gonorrhea both can climb up your genital tract and cause a severe infection that often requires hospital based treatment. That complication (PID) occurs in a fraction of the cases. Once you have treated the germ you have killed it off & avoided the PID. Chlamydia does not hang around in your system like herpes & flare up later. Your only risk of PID would be anew infection.
