Yes: Every month when you ovulate an egg. The ovary has a hole or area where the egg left. Ovarian cysts are sometimes labeled as these holes or areas in the ovary. They naturally go away. Birth control stops ovulation so you would not have any forming while on the pill. Causes of ovarian/abdomen pain are many. Consult your Doctor or an Ob-Gyn specialist to find out why still in pain.

Ovarian cysts: They usually follow estrogen levels, shrinkage is accelerated by the progestin effects of the BCP's, and resorb entirely on their own, as well as re-occur at certain points of high estrogen in the menstrual cycle. Should discuss this with your OB so you know what to look for
