Diagnostic Criteria: change over time, as does CT technology. What was called an adenoma 20 years ago might qualify as a nodule by today's criteria. Also, there is a phenomenon called "interobserver variability," meaning that measurements and appearance of lesions on radiographs are judgement calls, and what one radiologist calls a nodule, another may call an adenoma.
