HIV treatment: You need life-prolonging drug treatment. With expert management with anti-HIV drugs (i.e. antiretrovial treatment, ART) you can live a normal life span. Without them, most HIV infected people die within several years. ART also protects sex partners. Best see a doctor or clinic with lots of experience in HIV care. Your GP may be fine, but if any doubt, ask for referral to a specialist. Good luck!
