A member asked:

Why neutrophils are high when lymphocytes are low in a bacterial infection??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neutrophils: are the cells that fight bacteria. Therefore in a bacterial infection, the body recruits more of them to fight, explaining higher blood levels. Lymphocytes, on the other hand, fight primarily viruses, and are not needed for bacterial infections. Hope this helps!
