A member asked:

Can high neutrophil count be a viral infection or is it always bacterial?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neutrophilia: High percentages of neutrophils seen in the differential WBC count can be due to viral infections, but are more commonly associated with bacterial infections, if due to infection. These are laboratory findings which must be interpreted in combination with the clinical picture and other lab and imaging studies.
