Pretty low risk.: First - from 1993 when Hantavirus surveillance began in the US until JAN 2017 (latest data I could find) there were 3 Hantaviruses reported to the CDC from New York. Per CCOHS.Ca: “The virus does not remain active for long once outside of its host -- less than 1 week outdoors and a few hours when exposed to direct sunlight.”
