A member asked:

Do i need rabies vaccine even if i have rabies antibody titer significantly above 0.5 iu/ml (base on rifft ) in case of re exposure ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

General rule: Many who work in higher risk settings get the rabies series as a pre-exposure preventative. Protective levels of antibody are expected to last for 2 years when followup testing is often done. If at or above protective level a booster is optional at that point. However, due to the seriousness of the disease & universally fatal outcome a booster is usually given with any valid exposure.
