A member asked:

Would five to seven beers have a negative effect on my bodys antibody response to the post-bite rabies vaccine? is it true that alcohol limits or hinders the immune response to the rabies vaccine?

Unlikely/who knows: The immune system functions in parallel & separately from the other metabolic systems of the body. I do not know anyone who has studied the specific effect of alcohol on this or other vaccines nor can I envision how such studies would be funded. Research requires both an interest in the question & a cost benefit that would drive the study. Recommendations to avoid alcohol are based on caution.

More than immune : response. Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Wish you good health!
