Quite Normal: Especially if you had a build up of calculus and inflamed gingiva. The hygienist was doing his/her job and sometimes a thorough cleaning will result in some soreness. Do your part at home with excellent oral hygiene and go for cleanings every 3-6 months as necessary. Your subsequent visits should be pain free.
