After in-person exam: Doctors generally do not prescribe psychiatric medications (such as meds to treat anxiety) unless they have seen the patient in-person. Even an anxious person should be able to figure out a plan with the help of family and friends, to get one visit at a doctor's office to get one week of medication and then successfully return "while under medication" for follow-up visits. Otherwise, a housecall.
