Several drugs help: The best drug for suppressing appetite is probably topiramate (topamax) which is used for epilepsy and seizures. In clinical trials the average weight loss ranged from 8% (on 50 mg) to 12% (on 200 mg). It does have side effects, which can include tingling (not dangerous), metabolic acidosis (can be monitored and prevented), and, rarely, acute glaucoma (with eye pain). Best to discuss with your md.
