A member asked:

I had chickenpox (varicella) in march 2018 and eversince i've been experiencing severe upper backpains. can this be related to varicella or shingles?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe/not: It would not be shingles so soon after varicella in the same month. However a poorly understood condition called Parsonage-Turner syndrome can produce upper back pain, usually on one side at some point after a viral infection. Whether or not this might be what you are going through is not clear. An evaluation by a neurologist may clarify the issue.
