A member asked:

If i was having prickling in pelvis and slight burning sensation for multiple days would doc be able to tell if it was an initial internal herpes outbreak with internal exam? swab came back with bv/lsil abnormal pap. feeling returned after antibiotic

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is possible to: have such a herpes outbreak if you have had previous history of herpes. The cervical swab is largely irrelevant since there are a host of other vaginal infections you could have had. If you have recurrence, then it is likely to be a viral infection (like herpes) unless your bacterial infection was incompletely treated by the "antibiotic". Hope this helps.
