Hiccoughs can: be caused by irritation of diaphragm, either above or below. Irritation can come from infection, inflammation, or even tumor, of the organs that abut the diaphragm. He needs to see a doctor for a full evaluation to investigate all of these possibilities. .Could be something serious.
