What is another good form of treating strep throat other than amoxicillin. my 10 yr old daughter has had strep throat 5 times already since school started and has always been given amoxicillin. i don't believe it is working on her.

Strep throat: Usually amoxicillin or penicillin are usually the first line of treatment, however, there has been some resistance depending on your area. I would talk with her doctor and see if she would do better on Omnicef - cephalosporin. Little bit better coverage and may not be resistant. You want to make sure as well that they do a throat culture on her as well as it will tell you the bacterial cause.
