Hand veins: Tortuous veins on the back of the hand usually indicate nothing serious. One way to tell if the veins are pathologic is to raise your arm above the level of your heart and they should normally collapse. If they don't collapse there could be an obstruction in the veins above the hand by a blood clot for example.
