Dr. can find out why: Many things are in the abdomen: stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, appendix, large intestine, abdominal muscles, kidneys, etc... An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure things out. Pain in the right upper abdomen can be due to gallstones. Pain in the right lower abdomen can be appendicitis. Kidney stones, intestinal twisting, and other problems can be painful.

See doctor: If this has just started , one needs to consider appendicitis which is a medical emergency. If this has been going on for months, one needs to consider other conditions such as a femoral hernia. Regardless, you need to ask your doctor to examine you.
