11 weeks pregnant. . i had a sharp pain in vagina that shot to the left side of abdomen. . only lasting a couple seconds.. is this normal?

Depends: Considering the pain has gone away it is likely not serious. If this is coupled with bleeding, cramping or pain on urination I would recommend going to the Emergency Room.

Probably: this is likely pressure on the lumbar plexus from the enlarging uterus. It resolves after delivery.
