My ear canal has been itching and intermittently mildly sore for months now. dr that it might be wax. i did a strip test this morning & leukocytes @ 500 caccells /ul & blood present 25-50 caccells/ul left ear was negative in both.

Baby oil and Benadry: Usually this is due to absence of natural wax, due to getting shampoo in your ear. Once the shampoo gets in the ear canal, it remains in place. Than, an night in your sleep you dig in the ear canal and get it infected. a. Keep shampoo out of the ear b. Use Johnson'e baby oil at night 2=3 drops regularly c When it itches at night, take 50 mg of Benadryl if your doctor Ok"s it whenever it itches.
