Since you don't have characteristic findings of eczema,fungal or bacterial infection of the external ear canal, I surmise that there's an irritable/minor irritated superficial nerve in the canal. Stop further irritation by sticking objects in the canal in an effort to clean it. You could also try a course of a combination ear drops.or suspension that has antibacterial, antifungal action& cortisone
