May have: He may have irritated a nerve in his upper neck. The nerve roots from the upper cervical spine supply much of the sensation to the head. If these nerves get irritated, they can cause pretty bad headaches. I would recommend seeing a pain physician and having a diagnostic nerve block for occipital neuralgia. I hope that helps!
