A podiatric point : The swelling can be the babies are putting pressure on the venous system. Very common also a ligament that helps support the foot (talus) with elastin fibers becomes loose and arch of foot will “flatten “. This is why podiatrists will recommend some form of orthotic to help support the foot and possibly reposition the babies helping to take pressure off the veins
