Edema: It could be you should go see your doctor and get checked out. There are lots of possible explanations.

Kidneys or veins: Of the many possibilities, you could have low protein in your blood from kidney damage (bad kidneys leak protein) or your veins aren't working as well to return blood to your heart aka chronic venous stasis.
