Every time i cough my head hurts more in the same spot. i have a brain mri scheduled , is it safe to take antihistamine to stop cough? im concerned.

Cough: To suppress a dry hacking cough it is safe for you to take an antihistamine combined in cough syrup that has dextromethorphan(antihistamine DM elixir). The antihistamine may cause some drowsiness. You can ask your pharmacist to recommend one. Claritin is a non drowsy antihistamine but on its own, may not suppress a hacking cough.
