A member asked:

For the past week ive had a stomach virus. no nausea or vomiting but stomach/abdominal pain, a lot of gas, frequent peeing and it hasnt gone away even when i tried to drink a lot of fluids, eat a lot of bananas and eat only bland foods. what is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gas: These are not classic symptoms of a viral gastrointestinal tract infection, but could be an aftermath of one with predominant gaseous discomfort caused by either forming of excessive gas or sluggish passing of normal amounts of gas. Bananas are roughage and contribute to gas formation. Drinking hot(not boiling) water breaks down gas. Taking simethicone after meals prevents gas buildup.? See doc
