Sounds ok: A Rocephin (cefriaxone) dose lasts one day (24 hours). Omnicef 300mg take every 12 hours for 5 to 10 days is one of the recommended dosing strategies for treatment of strep throat. Thus, getting 1 dose of Rocephin plus 5 days of twice-a-day Omnicef should be enough to treat strep throat. A patient can get rechecked if not sure if he got cured of his strep.
