Our sympathies: Diabetes is a life long problem. But treatment is very effective although it must be a daily chore Pediatric endocrinologists are very good at dealing with this and can refer you to resources helpful for you and your daughter. This is an area in which rapid advances are being made and there may be far more effective treatments in the near future.

Initial/ later: Initially it will take a couple days to normalize the kids fluids/blood sugar while watching closely for complications. Then, if needed, they may move her to a specialty center where a diabetes team is available to start age/family appropriate training in managing the disease. Initial eval/treatment usually takes whatever time it takes, but then you link up with a team for future needs.
