Is a 5 day course 300mg 2 x daily of omnicef good for strep a infection?? im scared for rheumatic fever?

No worries: Rheumatic fever should not happen in a person who gets treated for strep with Omnicef. If his symptoms don't go away, or if his symptoms come back soon, he can see his doctor again to recheck his throat.

Maybe/not: The recommended schedule for treating strep A pharyngitis is 10 days for all meds other than Zithromax (azithromycin) where it is 5. Zithromax stays in the system for a week after dosing stops. Prolonged dosing to assure elimination of all germs is standard. Whether or not 5 days of cefdinir would do it is hard to say. It is not commonly recommended for this condition.
