Patience: Strep throat is a bacterial infection. The germ that causes this has not shown resistance (smartness) against most antibiotics. It can take a few days to recover. Without antibiotics, this infection often resolves in a 3-5 days. Push water - rest. http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/tc/strep-throat-topic-overview

Wait another day: Antibiotics usually take 2-3 days to work. If the child is not better in another day , having taken the antibiotics already for 2 days, the child's fever should be re-evaluated and more tests done if required. Even if the child had a throat culture with strept grp A positive, there should always be a doubt and child shd be seen again. Penicillins & first generation cephalosporins better for strep
