A member asked:

My 1 year old swallowed an oval shaped 2cm magnet. what should i do? wait for her to pass it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The problem: A single magnet that made its way to the stomach might pass through with no problem. If you cannot be absolutely sure there was not another magnet, or that she didn't also consume something metallic, you need to have her evaluated now. Two magnets ( or magnet + metal) that got on opposite sides of gut tissue could bore a hole through the gut & produce a life threatening event.
