Hard to say: Periodontal disease needs to be diagnosed with an examination and radiographs, which cannot be accomplished over the internet. If it has been more than six months since your last dental exam and professional cleaning, it's time to make an appointment. Gingival abscess: A gum abscess usually requires treatment; otherwise it can worsen and result in the destruction of the surrounding tissue. See your dentist for evaluation and treatment ASAP.
