Xanax Tolerance: I understand your concern. “Have to take 15+mg to feel just some relief” indicates Tolerance to Alprazolam and need to see a Psychiatrist for: •Establishing Diagnosis •Stresses of relationships, work and past unresolved feelings causing Anxiety •Therapy to develop coping skills for stress •Medication benefits, side effects, Tolerance, Dependence •Breathing and Music Relaxation •Visual Imagery

See a psychiatrist: for evaluation or re-evaluation if you have already seen one, you may need something else, or maybe not at all. Tolerance to alprazolam is expected, and you are already over maximum recommended dose, good luck

Anxiety med: Medication has its place so please see doc who may suggest an alternative. Please think holistically and utilize other modalities such as clinical hypnosis (see www.asch.net) or biofeedback or the relaxation response (www.relaxationresponse.org). Cognitive therapy w/a clinical psychologist can be helpful also. Lots of ways to help beyond medication. Peace and good health.

Many Factors: Assume you meant 1.5 mg & not 15mg which would be dangerous amount. Obviously you should only take Rx meds from doctor. Once you get involved with street drugs you are on a deadly path. You want to address the etiology of the anxiety if possible with therapy. If benzodiazepines are needed you might benefit by longer acting one . The decision on which meds would also depend how often you need it.

See doctor fast: Your question may be very sensible, and it sounds like a switch is necessary. However, there is a priority issue for you now, in that you are taking huge amounts of alprazolam, and you need medical guidance to reduce and come off of it. Overdose and withdrawal are serious matters with this medicine. See your doctor immediately.
