A member asked:

My sons heart rate at rest is 48bpm. he does quite a lot of exercise but he sometimes feels his heart skip beats which makes him light headed. is this normal or do i need to see a cardiologist? thanks

See cardiologist: Well conditioned athletes can have resting heart rates in the 45-60 range and may occasionally have skipped beats, but lightheadedness is not typical unless going from sitting to standing quickly, so an evaluation is a good idea. Anyone with dizziness or fainting during exercise needs a full evaluation.
