No big deal: Staphylococcus is the family name of common germs that can be found on various skin surfaces by the time you are a few hours old. By itself, its presence is no more worrisome than dust on your skin or other locations. There are strains of staphylococcus that can produce infections or abscesses. However, when I hear the term scant applied to a report it implies that they are simple contaminants.
