Probably not harmful: It is normal to have staph on the skin and in body openings, especially the nose. Staph certainly can cause dangerous infections once in a while, but for the most part is harmless. It would be reasonable for you to see your GP, and if staph is the cause of the sore, she probably will prescribe an antibiotic ointment or maybe even pills. But there is almost no chance it will kill you.
