A member asked:

What is meaning of scanty growth of staphylococcus albus isolated after 48 hrs incubation ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low to No growth/Neg: This most likely means that there is little to no growth of this organism in culture, most likely blood culture, or whatever culture you got after 48 hours. This is part of your normal skin flora or bacteria, also referred to as staphylococcus epidermidis. If there is scanty growth after 48 hours, it is likely that there will be no significant growth at all. Cultures are usually kept up to 72 h.
