A member asked:

6 months ago my gfr was 45...it has since climed to 55......how is that possible..and is it possible that it will get in a normal range.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mostly bogus: GFR's guesstimated on routine Chem profiles are junk science included so that lawyer-shy physicians can adjust dosages in the critically ill. Every muscular man now tests as a kidney patient. An extra glass of water, a skipped ibuprofen tablet, or even losing some muscle from not lifting weights. All these can raise GFR.
