Conditioning: I am not sure what you mead by cad. If your heart and longs are normal it may just require conditioning with regular exercise to get it shape. Weight loss can be helpful too if it is a factor. Remember some shortness of breath on climbing stairs can be normal. You are doing more work! by the way, stopping smoking will help too.
