Foot big toe swel : I would see foot specialist you may have gout or a bursitis of the joint if nsaid is not helping I would recommend X-rays and maybe a steroid injection but first lets find out what your dealing with....

Gout: You may have gout. See your physician as you need to have your auric acid level checked. Meanwhile Ibuprofen should be effective in controlling the discomfort
