Needs exam: This could easily be a reactive lymph node to a skin infection on the scalp. These are common. BUT, in order to say it's that, your son needs a good history and physical exam to check out other places lymph nodes can get enlarged. Don't worry, because that's not a good use of your time. BUT get him in for an exam so that we can get an accurate diagnosis of this mass.
