A member asked:

I have a 2cm solid breast mass within a 4cm soft tissue breast mass. the soft tissue is okay apparently but the dr has done a fine needle biopsy today on the solid mass. what is the likelihood of this being cancerous?

Low likelihood: The answer to this depends on a lot of factors, such as family history, your ethnicity, smoking history and the number of pregnancies you've had. Overall the likelihood that it is cancer is low but your doctor did the right thing to biopsy it. Breast cancer detected early is very treatable.

Probably Low: Dont have your exact report the little you've described from the scan sounds encouraging. Cant give an exact figure and the doctor has done the right thing by doing the biopsy - and you by coming forward to have it tested as even if it is cancer you have greatly increased the chances of detecting it early when more treatable. You could ask the doctor who ordered the scan re exact statistics.
