Hernia or lipoma: It is possible to palpate a hernia. Another possibility is that it might be something else, like a lipoma (a benign fat growth). If it starts causing you severe pain you should have it evaluated immediately because it might have gotten it's blood supply cut off. Discussing it with a family physician or surgeon can help you decide on your available options.
