A member asked:

I am a 20 year old male with a history of myocarditis, my tonsils are giving me endless problems is it adviseable to get them taken out?

Hard to say: I can't put the tonsil issue together with the myocarditis. Removal of tonsils can reduce the intensity of throat problems but the tonsil type tissue remains in small islands from the back of your mouth back to your large intestines. Removal does not mean you will never have a throat infection again. You can consult with your doc or an ENT for recommendation.

Tonsils. : If your tonsils get infected often, it would be worthwhile to consult with an ENT physician to consider removal. At times, your tonsils actually become the source of the infection rather than the mechanism for their cure.
